The ‘Mountain Operation’
At the same time as Operation ‘Yoav’ was taking place in the Negev, (counter) combat actions started to take place against the Egyptians who held the southern region of the Jerusalem corridor.
At the same time as Operation ‘Yoav’ was taking place in the Negev, (counter) combat actions started to take place against the Egyptians who held the southern region of the Jerusalem corridor with the aim of confining the Egyptian forces to this area and also to broaden the corridor. The operation, which was named ‘The Mountain’ took place between the 19 to 20 October 1948. It was carried out in the main by the forces of ‘Harel’ Brigade and, on one of the nights, ‘Etzioni’ Brigade also took part.
